commonROK previously ROK (still ROK on Apple Music) is a Christian who has been blessed with a musical talent. This has made him a passionate songwriter & music producer driven by a desire to create music that reflects his Christian faith and devotion to God as well as day-to-day life interactions with family, friends & even strangers.
His mission is to live his life for God's glory by sharing the message of God's peace, love, hope, and his real-life experiences through music. He anticipates the music will bring encouragement, spiritual connection and hope to listeners worldwide. As he says this is the closest he will get to "preaching" for now.

Part 1 common:
this word emphasizes the fact that the triune God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit), Creator of the universe can use the simplest, least sophisticated, unpolished things or people in the world to accomplish his divine purpose (Luke 19:40) God is sovereign and we are His vessels, who are God's workmanship in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:10)
Part 2: ROK
Represent initials reflective of my name:
Robert O Kumi ---> ROK
I went by ROK initially but changed name to this "new & unique" one in 2025 when I started broader distribution of my music via Distrokid, as there are many other artists going by ROK as it is a common name 😀 (pun intended). The other most critical factor is if one were to add a single letter C, and say it then we have the ROCK- Christ Jesus who is the firm foundation of our faith.
What to Expect in commonROK's songs
Each song has lyrics, melody, harmony and rhythm that flow from my inner being, which is nourished consistently though my relationship with Christ, our Savior, and the spiritual and real-life experiences I've encountered with him by my side. I've been exposed to various musical styles and genres throughout my life and do my best to incorporate them into my songwriting to appeal to a broad audience. Therefore- my songs don't fit into just one category but span reggae, pop, disco, old school rap, and traditional hymns.
While my musical skills are not and may never reach a professional level (be perfect), my heart's desire is to see these unique and diverse songs spread the gospel to reach souls who need Jesus as well as offer encouragement to all (believers/nonbelievers).
So I hope you will join me to (1) Take a Ride (First Album- Released in 2004); (2) Heed the Call (Second Album- released in 2026).; then (3) go on the Smooth Relationship Coaster (Third album- targeted for release end of 2026)

Knowing that we have a Loving Father, Beloved Son Jesus, and an Empowering Holy Spirit who is Good.
